President Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the White House.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were âdeeply grievingâ.

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

The commander-in-chief explained heâs talked about a White House visit for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.
âI stated: âWhen youâre able, because thatâs a tough thing, come to the White House. Weâre going to pay tribute to her,â the president informed reporters. âAnd in the same way with him, recover or not.â

Mourners gathered over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both they had been serving with the military unit as part of Trumpâs national effort to assist policing efforts in DC.

âSarah was the individual that educators hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted those around her,â the principal, the head of Beckstromâs previous school, informed the press. âShe was sweet, caring and always eager to assist people.â
Service plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The event prompted the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and cease granting entry permits to owners of travel documents.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is âfighting for his lifeâ, West Virginia leader Morrisey mentioned on a news program.
Attorney general the attorney general informed the program that she also intended to visit the family.

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, per the military.
