Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his position following a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his team in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period like this with results so bad.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to the top, show everyone again the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
