An Australian man who jumped past a barrier and grabbed celebrity Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was given a sentence to more than a week in detention for causing a public disturbance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities told news outlets.

The man shoved past photographers and rushed toward the celebrity, who was participating in the regional launch for the film on 13 November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.

He has a background of disrupting concerts and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.

The occurrence provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with several individuals claiming he of causing further distress to the star.

The singer has mentioned suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at her performance in the English city in several years ago killed 22 people and hurt numerous attendees.

In the legal process, the authorities learned he had made efforts to breach on the red carpet event multiple times, according to local news sources.

He then made a follow-up try to cross the barriers. Security staff intercepted him and held him in place.

The man subsequently shared recordings appreciating the celebrity for allowing his presence and said he was "released."

Police detained him the next day and accused him with disorderly conduct, to which he confessed.

The Court Judge the magistrate was cited by Channel News Asia as remarking that he was looking for publicity, adding that he was incorrect to believe he would not suffer any consequences.

The actress has not addressed the incident.

Cynthia Erivo discussed the incident to a media outlet, stating that she "only aimed to make sure my friend was secure."

"I'm sure he didn't intend us danger, but you never know with such situations, and I aimed to confirm that she was alright. That was my initial reaction," she stated.
