American actor Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles this Monday after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - only friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones said in a statement.
They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific TV Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He starred as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a social organizer known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on several well-known programs, like:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was involved with a comedy group of six named "Beer Shark Mice".
"He coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and it would be difficult to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he shared publicly.
The actor is survived by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
