The acclaimed UK star Helen Mirren, already winner of an Oscar, multiple Bafta awards, three Golden Globes, five Emmys, and a Tony, will soon receive another prestigious accolade to her trophy case: the Cecil B DeMille Globes' lifetime honor.

Ceremony Details

Dame Helen, octogenarian, previously given a damehood during 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow in 2014, will pick up the award during a presentation on the eighth of January, just prior to the Golden Globes main event are held, as part of a ceremony promoted by the organization as the Golden Eve event.

Additionally featuring the awarding of the organization’s Carol Burnett award for television achievement, the honoree for which is still to be revealed. Previous recipients included Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.

It is a profound honour to bestow upon her the DeMille prize.”

Helen Mirren became well-known back in the 70s via important performances on stage in London’s theater district and with the RSC and in films like O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her starring role in the investigative show Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase significantly. Additional notable movies include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She won an Oscar for her role as Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a part she returned to in 2013 for The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan concerning the sessions with the Queen and the PM the former PM, and for which she earned a Tony during 2015.
