For many years, president after president has strived to rid the United States of its reputation as a domineering, imperialistic nation. But with his bombastic, often brutish behavior toward other countries, the U.S. leader has swiftly resurrected that idea. Under Trump, the negative U.S. stereotype is back.

Forceful Application of Power

Trump has done this by employing American influence in forceful and overbearing ways – by condemning foreign nations' approaches and then promising to punish them if they don’t bow to his requirements.
